Xiaomi Mi Box 4S Pro, a new streaming device that supports 8K video decoding, has been launched in China. Priced at CNY 399 (approximately Rs. 4,500), this streaming box is currently only available in China. The MI Box 4S Pro, launched earlier this year in India for Rs 3,499, is part of the same product series that includes the MI Box 4S.

Priced at CNY 399 (approximately Rs. 4,500), the Mi Box 4S Pro is slightly more expensive than the Mi Box 4K. It also comes with better features. Support for 8K video decoding The Mi Box 4K itself places more importance on the device than devices such as the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Apple TV 4K.
MI Box 4S Pro: Features
The main feature of the Mi Box 4S Pro is the 8K video decoding. It is not currently available on other popular streaming devices. While it’s not clear how this will work, the company says that the Mi Box 4S Pro will be able to playback locally available 8K video content on currently supported televisions.
Currently, none of the major streaming services offer content in 8K resolution. So it is doubtful whether anything else can be done with this feature.
The MI Box 4S Pro runs on TVs with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage for applications and application data. Any global version of the device comes with an Android TV similar to the MI Box 4K in India.
That is, as 8K TVs are more expensive and 8K content is not widely available, the specific feature of this device is not likely to attract much attention globally right now.
