With iOS 15, Apple would improve the iPad home screen, notifications and the lock screen

Less than two days after the keynote dedicated to the iPad Pro, the iMac and the AirTag, the rumors about Apple are resuming. Bloomberg, through the infallible Mark Gurman, reveals some information on the future software projects of the Californian brand. iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, which will be showcased at WWDC21 on June 7, are expected to bring some changes to the iPhone and iPad.

A new home screen for the iPad

Now equipped with an M1 chip identical to that of Macs, the iPad Pro should be in the spotlight at the next WWDC. Why would Apple put such a powerful chip in a device so limited by its software capabilities? We imagine that the brand is preparing a lot of new things to make iPadOS more proactive.

Mark Gurman reveals a first change: the iPad home screen will experience its first upheaval in 11 years. Like the iPhone since iOS 14, the iPad will be able to integrate widgets into their home screen. Bloomberg also indicates that it will be possible to display only widgets and completely eliminate icons. We ask to see the final rendering.

Presets for notifications

Another intriguing change, a new menu dedicated to notifications would appear in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. Each user could configure different settings. We could alternate between normal mode, work mode, driving mode, sleep mode and other personalized modes. Each preset would have its peculiarities in terms of notifications (notifications would all be cut off at night, only activated for certain applications at work… The user would choose everything). This new menu would be accessible in the control center and on the locked screen. It is a mode do not disturb

improved.

In some modes, the user could also schedule automatic replies to messages. This is only possible in driving mode today.

A new privacy menu

With iOS 15, Apple would once again attract the wrath of developers. A new menu would denounce all the applications that track you down, in order to force their developers to review their practices. Apple would continue to make iOS more privacy-friendly.

A more social iMessage

Finally, Mark Gurman says he learned that Apple wanted to bring iMessage closer to WhatsApp, by making it closer to a social network. This feature is said to be in development and could arrive after iOS 15. The first beta of the update should be available on June 7, after WWDC. New minor versions of macOS, watchOS and tvOS would also be on the program.
