Encrypted messaging Signal had bought advertisements to expose the way Facebook exploits the personal data of its users. The problem was, he had planned to upload them to Instagram. Obviously, Facebook did not like it, which hastened to challenge them.
Very intimate information
The campaign featured different versions revealing very intimate information about fictitious users. “You see this ad because you’re a chemical engineer who loves K-pop. This advertisement uses your location to see where you are in Berlin. And you have a new baby. And you just moved ”, could we read, for example. A concrete and effective way to become aware of what the platform knows about you and how it can benefit from it in advertising.
This censorship, quite predictable, inspires Signal to this reflection: “Facebook is more than willing to sell visibility into people’s lives, unless it’s to let them know how their data is being used”. So here are some examples of that you will never see on Instagram.

Recall that a number of WhatsApp users recently referred to Signal after the announcement that their data would be shared with Facebook. This application has enjoyed continued success since the start of the year. Its popularity has grown further since its CEO exposed security flaws in the Cellebrite company’s hacking tools.
