On Sunday evening, UEFA threatened the players of the founding clubs of the Super League with a ban on playing for their national teams. In the event of sanctions, the France team would be very strongly impacted.
Imagine a France team at the Euro without Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Raphaël Varane or even without its captain Hugo Lloris. This is the risk weighing on the Blues after the announcement by twelve of the biggest European clubs of the creation of a European Super League.

15 players out of the 26 selected in March concerned
In reaction, the UEFA, which would see its Champions League very strongly competed with this new competition, assured in a press release published on Sunday “to consider all the legal and sporting measures which come before us to prevent”. Among the possible sanctions, the possibility of preventing the players of the twelve clubs concerned from participating in international competitions with their selections.
For the France team, the impact could be considerable. Of the 26 players selected in mid-March by Didier Deschamps to play the first qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup, 15 are concerned: Hugo Lloris, Tanguy Ndombélé, Moussa Sissoko (Tottenham), Antoine Griezmann, Clément Lenglet, Ousmane Dembélé ( FC Barcelona), Ferland Mendy, Raphaël Varane (Real Madrid), Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial (Manchester United), Adrien Rabiot (Juventus), Olivier Giroud, N’Golo Kanté, Kurt Zouma (Chelsea) and Thomas Lemar (Atlético de Madrid ).
A puzzle for Deschamps
If this national team suspension were to be confirmed by the start of the Euro, Didier Deschamps would face a huge headache, like all the other coaches. The coach of the Blues will however be able to count on the French of Bayern Munich (Kingsley Coman, Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard) and of Paris Saint-Germain (Presnel Kimpembe, Kylian Mbappé), who have decided not to follow the twelve dissident clubs.
To obtain such a sanction against the Super League teams, however, UEFA would have to obtain the support of FIFA. In its press release, the body that directs world football did not go directly in the direction of UEFA.
This is what the France team could look like without the players from the dissident clubs:
Maignan (Lille) – Pavard (Bayern), Upamecano (Leipzig), Kimpembe (PSG), L. Hernandez (Bayern) – Aouar (Lyon), Camavinga (Rennes) – Coman (Bayern), Fekir (Betis Sevilla), Mbappé ( PSG) – Ben Yedder (Monaco)
