Tushar Deshpande, who entered the IPL through a match against Rajasthan Royals, gave an impressive performance in the first match.
Tushar bowled 4 overs 37 runs and took 2 wickets. Ben Stokes was dismissed and took the first wicket in the IPL. Tushar, who gave up 11 runs in the first over, struck out Stokes in the next over.
Rajasthan needed 22 runs to win the last over. Tushar gave only 8 runs and dismissed Shreyas Gopal for the last ball. The way Tushar Yorkers met in this match was impressive.
When the IPL started in 2008, Deshpande, then a member of the Under-13 team, played ball at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai that season.
Tushar was delighted to see cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Dwayne Bravo, Shaun Pollock, Dhawal Kulkarni, and Abhishek Nayar up close.
Sitting outside the boundary line, taking bottles of energy drinks, and watching the match was an unforgettable experience, Tushar said.
Tushar, a left-handed batsman, and right-handed medium-pacer have faced many ups and downs in his career.
The Mumbai player, who underwent surgery in 2017 due to injuries, has been out of cricket for a year and a half. At the same time, the mother was diagnosed with cancer and the whole family was in agony.
Deshpande’s mother, who had been battling cancer for two years, passed away in 2019. She underwent chemotherapy 26 times but had no results.
Syed Mushtaq decided to play in the Ali Trophy for Mumbai the day after his mother died. Despite being the only son with the courage of his father Tushar was able to make this decision. Tushar said that if his mother was alive, she would proud of playing cricket.
Tushar was instrumental in Mumbai winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy ten years later. Tushar, who also played for India-A, was bought by Delhi Capitals this year for Rs 20 lakh.
The Tushar family still lives in Kalyan, a suburb of Mumbai. Tushar coached cricket at Shivaji Park Gymkhana, 60 km from there.
Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer and Tushar both trained at Shivaji Park in Gymkhana as children. Both were betting on an egg sandwich in the nets.
Tushar said he often wins the bet himself. As a kid, he used to bowl with the aim of taking wickets for every ball. Shreyas said they respect each other even though they are not best friends.
