AHMEDABAD, Dec 1 (PTI) Police have arrested three senior officers of the company operating the hospital in connection with the fire that took place last week at a private Kovid-19 hospital in Gujarat’s Rajkot district. A police officer gave this information on Tuesday. In the ICU ward of Uday Shivanand Hospital, five patients died due to fire in the fire at around 12:30 pm on Friday, while 28 others were rescued. Police on Sunday lodged an FIR under section 304-A (death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code against five officers of ‘Gokul Healthcare Pvt Ltd’ who operated the hospital. An official of the Malviya Nagar police station in Rajkot said that the police arrested him on Monday night after reports of company chairman Dr. Prakash Modha, executive director Dr. Vishal Modha and director Dr. Tejas Karamta were probing Kovid-19 took. “An FIR has been lodged against him and two others under the IPC section for causing death due to negligence,” he said. Deputy Commissioner of Police Manohar Singh Jadeja told reporters on Sunday that the investigation into the case was revealed It has happened that the hospital authorities have acted negligently and hence an FIR has been registered under Section 304-A of the IPC. He said that the Kovid-19 hospital started functioning on 15 September after getting permission. Jadeja had said that the investigation revealed that the hospital had allegedly violated a number of rules and the hospital administration was negligent. He had said that the hospital did not follow fire prevention protocols, safety measures were not taken, which led to difficulties in rescue operations and five patients were killed.
