The Union is preparing its comeback in D1A. The club launched, this Tuesday, April 13, its development work to comply with the D1A. No big changes on the horizon, just a little relifting …
As announced a few weeks ago by CEO Philippe Bormans, the Marien stadium will therefore experience some changes in its lighting and its pitch. First of all, the lights surrounding the field will be equipped with LED lighting. A more technological and sophisticated lighting system but, above all, respectful of the environment. A point on which the leaders of the club want to base themselves for their next projects.
For the field, the decision-makers of the yellow and blue house have also decided not to opt for heated tarpaulins (Editor’s note: as was the case a few weeks ago) but to install a heating system under the lawn. The main goal of this action is to be able to play your matches in freezing weather without any worries. But this is not the only change! The lawn will be completely redone and will become “hybrid”. It is, in fact, a “ecological and sustainable solution for a better playing surface”, specifies the press release of the Union.
Because of these arrangements, the last game of the season against Deinze (Sunday April 25 at 6 p.m.) should be relocated to the Mechelen lawn, at the Achter stadium in Kazerne. The club is awaiting the various agreements from the competent authorities in order to confirm the operation.
