By winning the Champions League, against Manchester City (1-0) on Saturday, Chelsea offered themselves a little icing on the cake: the Londoners will be among the seeds for the 2021-2022 edition. With all club competitions now over, we now know all of the first two hats for the draw.

In hat 1, as has been the case since 2015-2016, we find the winners of the six biggest European championships. LOSC, which is still celebrating its Ligue 1 title, therefore enjoys this protected status, like Manchester City (Premier League), Atlético de Madrid (Liga), Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), Inter Milan (Serie A). ) and Sporting (Primeira Liga). They are joined by the two winners of continental competitions: Chelsea (Champions League) and Villarreal (Europa League).

PSG in a hat 2 raised

Hat 2 is determined by the UEFA points scored over the past five years. This year it turns out to be almost as high as Hat 1, with Real Madrid, Barca, Sevilla, Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund. With its final in 2019 and its semi-final in 2020, PSG is also part of this group, even deprived of a Ligue 1 title.

To know with certainty the composition of the last two hats, it will be necessary to wait for the end of the preliminary rounds. As it stands, five clubs are assured of their place in hat 3, thanks to their UEFA index: FC Porto, Ajax, RB Leipzig, Atalanta and Zenith Saint Petersburg. Besiktas, Dynamo Kiev and Bruges, respectively champions of Turkey, Ukraine and Belgium, must wait for the results of the play-offs to know their fate. AC Milan and Wolfsburg, also directly qualified, are assured of hat 4, where they will look like a scarecrow.
