A few days before two friendly matches against the Netherlands and Germany, the news of the Red Flames is moving among young people.
The Belgian Union indeed announced this Friday to set up a U23 team for the Red Flames when the U19 team already existed. “As more and more promising young players are making their mark on the pitch, we now have the opportunity to put together an up-and-coming team. By creating this team, we want to continue to develop new talents and reduce the gap between the Red Flames U19 and the A team“, indicates the Federation.
This new team will be coached by Thomas Janssen and he will be assisted by the young retiree Heleen Jaques, who also becomes youth coordinator.
Besides that, the work of the young people also involves new appointments within the staffs of the youth teams and here too, the former Red Flames have been called upon.
Cécile De Gernier becomes T2 of U19, Audrey Demoustier T1 of U17 and assistant of Serneels, coach of Red Flames. “I am very pleased with the commitment of several former Red Flames, who have not only obtained the necessary diplomas, but are also very motivated to pass their experience and knowledge on to the Flames of the future “, adds Ives Serneels.
