Through the Italian press agency, Inter Milan have indicated that they are no longer “interested” in the Super League project, after the withdrawal of the first six founding members. The dominating effect continues, and AC Milan should also announce their withdrawal in the coming hours.
After the withdrawal of the six English clubs, the European Super League project is exploding on all sides. Following the withdrawal of six founding members, out of the 12 involved in the project, it is now Inter Milan’s turn to confirm its withdrawal from this new competition.
AC Milan should follow
“The Super League project at present is no longer considered of interest by Inter,” confirmed the interist club, in a brief statement sent to ANSA, the Italian press agency. There are therefore only two Italian clubs left at this stage, Juventus and AC Milan.
But according to the Italian press, AC Milan should also soon announce its withdrawal, where the Turin club pushed for the creation of this European Super League through its president, Andrea Agnelli. Currently at the head of Serie A and on course to win an Italian league title, eleven years after the last coronation obtained in 2010, Inter Milan was under the threat of exclusion from its national championship.
During its congress held in Switzerland on Tuesday, UEFA had obtained the support of Fifa and asked dissident clubs to find their senses. Faced with the threats brandished by the international bodies and the anger of the supporters and even of the own actors, with the discontent of many players, the project has practically already exploded in flight in 48 hours.
