Biden backs Japan determined to host Olympics “this summer”

US President Joe Biden gave his support to Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga who said Friday from the White House that his country was determined to curb coronavirus contamination and to organize “this summer” of the Olympic Games “in complete safety”.


“I told President (American Joe Biden) of my determination to organize the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics this summer, as a symbol of world unity,” he said at a joint press conference with President Biden.

Joe Biden “supports Prime Minister Suga’s efforts to hold the Olympic and Paralympic Games safe,” he said in a joint statement.


“The two leaders expressed their pride in the American and Japanese athletes who trained for these Games and will compete in the best traditions of the Olympic spirit,” the statement also said.
