Seagate is giving its line of One Touch SSD portable SSDs a facelift. The new models offer capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB and now 2 TB. But it is above all in terms of speed that the difference is felt. The new generation is capable of reaching 1,030 MB / s in reading and writing, compared to only 400 MB / s for the previous generation.
For this, Seagate uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 technology. This technological change is similar to that undertaken by SanDisk on its Extreme SSDs, which now go up to 1,050 MB / s, or even 2,000 MB / s for the Pro version.
Seagate has also changed the design of its One Touch SSDs slightly, which feature an aluminum casing with a fabric side cover. The device has a USB Type-C interface, but Seagate ships two cables for connection to a USB Type-C or Type-A port.
On the software side, Seagate includes the Seagate Toolkit and Sync Plus programs for backing up and synchronizing files, as well as Rescue Data Recovery Services for data recovery.
The portable SSD also comes with a one-year free subscription to Mylio Create and a free four-month Adobe Creative Cloud photo subscription.
