Tennis star Sania Mirza became the first Indian to win the Fed Cup Heart Award on Monday, who received the award for her successful return to court after becoming a mother. He decided to transfer the money from this victory to the Telangana CM Relief Fund. He also announced it on social media.
Sania was awarded for the Asia Oceania region. He got more than 10 thousand votes out of a total of 16985. The winner of the Fed Cup Heart Award is selected based on the vote of the fans.
Voting for this award began on May 1. Sania got 60 percent of the total vote. He said in a statement issued by the All India Tennis Association, “It is a matter of pride to be the first Indian to win the Fed Cup Heart Award. I dedicate this award to the whole country and my fans. I will try to achieve more achievements for the country in future.
Sania returned to the Fed Cup after four years and for the first time in history, India made it to the playoffs. After giving birth to her son Izhan in October 2018, Sania returned to court in January this year and won the Hobart International title along with Nadia Kitchennow. In every category, the prize winner gets two thousand dollars. Sania gave this amount to the Telangana Chief Minister Relief Fund.
