For several months, we regularly hear rumors about the future camera under the Samsung screen. Some are betting on a launch in 2021, others on a much later presentation. Many observers agree on the fact that Samsung would introduce this technology to the ultra high-end before, little by little, to decline it on other categories of products.
According to the leaker Ice Universe that we know to be particularly reliable on Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has every chance of being the first to abandon the punched camera. Samsung’s UPC (Under Panel Camera) would be featured with this folding smartphone.
Samsung would like to do better
Recently, The Indian Paper.com tested the first smartphone with a camera under the screen. The ZTE Axon 20 5G, a mobile straight from China, still suffers from many flaws and rather deserves the designation of prototype. The tiny transparent OLED display above its front camera is too visible, making the experience unconvincing.
According to different rumors, Samsung’s approach is different. Rather than covering the front camera with a screen, the Korean could use a mechanism to allow a motorized screen stub to move when needed to bring up the camera. This would allow optimal quality to be maintained under all circumstances.

In 2019, Samsung announced its new Galaxy Fold at the same time as the Galaxy S10. In 2020, the Korean took advantage of the conference dedicated to the Galaxy Note 20 to present his Z Fold 2. This year, the Galaxy S21 were not accompanied by any folding device. No one knows when Samsung will introduce its Galaxy Z Fold 3… or Galaxy Z Flip 2.
