Mumbai Despite the superb innings of Sanju Samson (119 runs, 63 balls, 12 fours, 7 sixes), captaining his first match, Rajasthan Royals in the fourth match of the thrilling IPL 14th edition played at the Wankhede Stadium here on Monday. Defeated by four runs. The match was decided on the last ball. Chasing a target of 222 runs, the Rajasthan team scored 217 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. On the final ball, Samson needed five runs to win the team but he was out.
Samson became the first player to score a century in the IPL this season. Not only this, he became the first player to score a century while debuting as a captain. Earlier, Punjab Kings set a mammoth target of 222 runs in front of Rajasthan Royals with the half-century innings of skipper Lokesh Rahul (91) and Deepak Hooda (64).

Punjab, batting first after losing the toss, Rahul’s 91 from 50 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes and Deepak’s 64 from 28 balls with the help of four fours and six sixes and 105 runs for the third wicket between the two batsmen. 221 runs for six wickets in 20 overs on the basis of partnership.
