Former teammate of Karim Benzema at Real Madrid, Mesut Özil greeted the French on Twitter after his goal in the Clasico against FC Barcelona. For the German, Benzema is the best striker in La Liga.
Scorer of a superb “Madjer” at the start of Clasico against FC Barcelona, Karim Benzema started the match perfectly and scored his 19th goal of the season in the league. “The best striker in La Liga has shown his class yet again, my guy Benzi,” his former team-mate Mesut Özil commented on Twitter.
The two played together from 2010 to 2013 in the Spanish capital, before the German playmaker joined Arsenal. Benzema and Özil have always had a great relationship. They are almost the same age and got along very well on the pitch. Under the colors of Real Madrid, they have together won a La Liga (2012), a Spanish Cup (2011) and a Spanish Super Cup (2012).
Özil often greets Benzema
Mesut Özil on the other hand never won the Champions League, leaving Madrid before the titles of 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The German has got into the habit of talking about Benzema on social networks, whether for to salute his goal against Inter Milan, last November in the Champions League, or to remember a goal that involved both players, in 2010 against Ajax Amsterdam.
