Punjab: Railways run two goods trains

Chandigarh, Nov 23 (PTI) The railways operated two freight trains from its Ferozepur division on Monday, almost two months after the rail blockade of Punjab farmers against the agricultural laws of the center. Officials said that after inspecting all the tracks under Ferozepur division, the goods trains were operated. The Ferozepur division caters to the needs of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and a part of Himachal Pradesh. Divisional Railway Manager (Ferozepur Division) Rajesh Agarwal said, “Two freight trains were operated on Monday afternoon, one empty and the other loaded equally.”

Officials said that after inspecting all the tracks under Ferozepur division, the goods trains were operated. The Ferozepur division caters to the needs of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and a part of Himachal Pradesh. Divisional Railway Manager (Ferozepur Division) Rajesh Agarwal said, “Two freight trains were operated on Monday afternoon, one empty and the other loaded in the same.” While the empty goods train was run from Jalandhar to Delhi. Talking to media, he said that the passenger train from Amritsar to Haridwar will leave on Tuesday morning. Aggarwal said, “The way things are planned, other trains will run as well. “Agarwal said that all the tracks under Ferozepur division, whether in Punjab or Jammu and Kashmir, have been inspected by the Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force. He said that the inspection has been done on Monday morning. Various farmers’ organizations in Punjab are opposing the agricultural laws of the Center and have announced to end the blockade of passenger trains for 15 days from Monday. Except for 22 and 23 October, goods trains in the state have been closed for almost two months.
