By scoring from a free kick, Riyad Mahrez allowed Manchester City to win against Paris-Saint-Germain (1-2) in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League. An attempt which had nevertheless spun towards the Parisian wall.
71st minute. Paris-Saint-Germain are held in check on their lawn by Manchester City, but have not yet completely cracked. After Idrissa Gueye’s foul on Phil Foden, Pep Guardiola’s players have a good free kick to play, however, near the Parisian penalty area. Kevin De Bruyne places the ball on the ground, while Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gündogan also position themselves as possible shooters.

This is not the first time that Kimpembe has been singled out. In 2019, he had already turned on a strike from Diogo Dalot, in the end of the match against Manchester United. The French defender then conceded a penalty by touching the ball with his arm, precipitating the elimination of Paris-Saint-Germain.
Navas angry at his wall
In the Parisian wall, the four players jump. Presnel Kimpembe turns slightly and leaves a gap between him and Leandro Paredes, who also makes a small gap in his jump. This is where Mahrez’s shot will slip in to surprise a Keylor Navas who could not anticipate that his wall would come apart. The Parisian goalkeeper rages against his partners. A key moment that could change this semi-final of the Champions League.
