While Paris Saint-Germain was under pressure from Bayern Munich in the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League (to be continued on RMC Sport 1), Neymar could have opened the scoring at the half-hour mark but stumbled on a very tall Manuel Neuer.
This is an opportunity that PSG could regret in the event of elimination in their quarter-final return against Bayern Munich (to be watched live on RMC Sport 1). While the Bavarians had just created two opportunities in quick succession by Leroy Sané (26th) and Joshua Kimmich (27th), the Parisians came very close to opening the scoring at the half-hour mark.
On a good counter-attack, in the 28th minute of play, Angel Di Maria served Kylian Mbappé in depth. The 2018 world champion, passed in front of Lucas Hernandez, entered the box. Instead of opting for the strike from the left, Mbappé cleverly put the ball in the axis to Neymar.
Neymar still defeated by Neuer
The Brazilian, who had already stumbled on Manuel Neuer last week at the Allianz Arena, and last summer in the final of the last C1, was once again defeated by the German goalkeeper. The latter quickly came out in the feet of the Brazilian who could not materialize this huge opportunity. Neymar was once again illustrated a few minutes later with a nice strike from the left, well out by Neuer (34th).
Despite this failure of Neymar, PSG remained qualified at the half hour without being completely reassured. Hansi Flick’s Bayern were putting on a lot of pressure, but the action proved that the Bavarian club can be taken behind the backs of their defense. To Mbappé, offside several times since the start of the match, to find the right timing.
