In a message posted on his social networks, Florian Thauvin promises Marseille fans that he will give everything to help OM secure a European qualification, before leaving the club to join the Monterrey Tigers.
“The Tigers style is to always believe that it is possible.” It is with these few words in Spanish that Florian Thauvin formalized in a video, this Friday, his choice to go to Mexico at the end of the season. At the end of his contract this summer at OM, the world champion (28) did not wish to extend, tired of the criticisms of recent months and convinced by the proposal of the Tigers, the club of André-Pierre Gignac , his former teammate in Marseille. In another message posted on his social networks, the attacking midfielder wanted to address the supporters of OM.
“I am from Marseille for life”
“Friends, it’s not yet time to say goodbye … We still have three games and a European qualification to go! I am Marseille for life and I will give everything for my heart club until ‘at the last minute. Go OM, “he wrote. Recruited in 2013 after revealing himself on the side of Bastia, Thauvin had left to try his luck in England, in Newcastle, in 2015, before returning to Marseille only six months after his departure. Returning from a long injury, he has totaled eight goals and ten assists this season in all competitions.
Mentally worn out, eager to turn the page and not really convinced by the project led by Frank McCourt, Thauvin has therefore chosen the path already taken by Gignac, who has become a true legend among the Monterrey Tigers. Before leaving France, he will have three last opportunities to shine to help Marseille secure a European ticket: two trips to Saint-Etienne (09/05) and Metz (23/05), and the reception of the SCO of Angers ( 05/16).
