OM formalized the contract extension of their left-back Jordan Amavi on Friday. The 27-year-old has signed with the Marseille club until 2025.
OM closes a file. Before moving to Saint-Etienne on Sunday (1 p.m.) as part of the 36th day of Ligue 1, the Marseille club announced on Friday the contract extension of its left-back Jordan Amavi. The former Niçois has signed up for four more years. At 27, he is now linked with Olympique de Marseille until June 2025.
Jordan Amavi arrived in 2017 from Aston Villa. His season was particularly marred by injuries. Touched in the calf and then in a thigh, the left-hander has played only 11 matches in Ligue 1 this season.

Sampaoli wanted to keep it
This extension is nevertheless good news for OM who sinned on the left lane in his absence, the Japanese Yuto Nagatomo being really too limited. This is especially good news for Jorge Sampaoli who wanted to keep him. The Argentine coach is indeed convinced that Amavi is the ideal player for his game system, making him evolve as a left piston.
This extension launches an offseason which promises to be particularly eventful in Marseille. In attack, Florian Thauvin, at the end of his contract, should pack his bags to join André-Pierre Gignac in Mexico. The world champion is about to accept a very interesting offer from the Monterrey Tigers.
