Now any Indian will be able to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir, Center issued notification

Prior to August 5, 2019, the state of Jammu and Kashmir had a separate constitutional system, in which only permanent citizens of the state could buy land there. Earlier in September 2020, the Jammu and Kashmir administration amended the Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020.

The Center has issued a notification regarding land law in Jammu and Kashmir. The Center has amended the laws relating to the Land Ownership Act in Jammu and Kashmir, which has cleared the way for any citizen of India to buy land in both the union territories. Now any citizen of India can buy land there. The ban on agricultural land will still continue.

According to Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, we want the Union Territory state to have outside industries, but the land of farming will remain for the local people here. Now people from other states can also start work by purchasing land here. This decision has been taken before the completion of one year of declaring Jammu and Kashmir as a union territory.

According to the notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, it will be called the third order of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization 2020. After the removal of Article 370, the Center reorganized Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh as a Union Territory.

This order will come into force with immediate effect. Before 5 August 2019, the state of Jammu and Kashmir had a separate constitutional system, in which only permanent citizens of the state could buy land there. Earlier in September 2020, the Jammu and Kashmir administration amended the Domicile Certificate (Procedure) Rules, 2020.
