1000 Sixes in T20 cricket, that too by any one batsman. You may have been shocked too, but this record has been made by Christopher Henry Gayle. Kings XI Punjab batsman Chris Gayle created this history in the match against Rajasthan Royals on Friday. He has completed 1000 Six in the shortest format of cricket.

Gayle, popularly known as ‘Universe Boss’, beat the Rajasthan bowlers and scored 99 runs in just 63 balls. He was dismissed in the final over and Jofra Archer did not allow him to score a century. Thanks to Gayle’s innings, Punjab scored 185 runs losing 4 wickets at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

In Abu Dhabi, Gayle appeared in a jagged style from the very beginning and played fierce shots. He hit 6 fours and a brilliant 8 sixes in his innings. In the final over of Archer’s innings, he looked ready for a record 7th IPL century before being bowled clean.


He is the only batsman to score 1000 sixes in T20 cricket. The second in this list is his country’s all-rounder Karen Pollard, who has hit 690 sixes so far.

The 41-year-old Gayle was out of the first 7 matches of the league but since he returned, the Punjab team also won 5 matches in a row. Talking about Gayle’s international career, he has scored 7214 runs in 103 Tests, 10480 runs in 301 ODIs and 1627 runs in 58 T20 matches.
