Beaten by the Denver Nuggets on the night from Sunday to Monday, the Lakers could have lost more with the possible injury of Anthony Davis.
The images may worry Lakers fans: Anthony Davis leaving the Ball Arena at the end of the second quarter, due to pain in his right Achilles tendon. While he had made a very early start to the match, with 15 points scored, he had to leave his teammates prematurely so as not to risk aggravating his injury.
Davis will have an MRI on Monday
“When you play, you always use your Achilles tendon, and it sore because I used it a little too much. (…) I will receive treatment and I will be ready for Denver.” Davis said before the game against the Nuggets. Already embarrassed in the Achilles tendon, it is therefore on a recovery of support in front of Nikola Jokic that the Lakers winger was injured.
This Monday, the Los Angeles franchise will hold their breath when Davis has an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan to assess inflammation in his Achilles tendon. Without Davis, who therefore left the floor at the end of the second quarter, the match shifted in favor of Denver.
Potential MVP duel eclipsed
The Nuggets took their revenge (122-105) against the defending champion, who blocked their way last season in the play-offs. Davis’ injury also eclipsed the duel of potential MVP between Nikola Jokic, author of a triple-double (23 pts, 16 rebounds, 10 assists), and LeBron James who touched him (22 pts, 10 rebounds, 9 assists), as well as 25 points from Jamal Murray.
With this success, the Nuggets go back to 7th place in the West. The Lakers remain 2nd, but see the Clippers (3rd) getting closer after their success against Cleveland (128-111).
