Two days after a muscle problem suffered in the right forearm at the Spanish Grand Prix, Fabio Quartararo underwent surgery on Tuesday. The Yamaha rider hopes to be 100% for the French Grand Prix on May 16.
Less than 48 hours after a muscle problem in his right forearm derailed his chances of winning at Jerez, Fabio Quartararo went through surgery on Tuesday. The young French pilot (22) announced the news on Twitter with a reassuring message from his hospital room in Aix-en-Provence.
“The doctor told me that the operation for my compartment syndrome (a common muscle ailment for pilots) went very well. I can’t wait to start working on my arm again this week so that I am 100% at Le Mans, “said the rider on behalf of his Yamaha team.
An operation at the same location in June 2019
Only 13th in Spain, “El Diablo” has less than two weeks to return to its best level before the French Grand Prix at Le Mans on May 16th. The young Frenchman had already been operated on for the same disease in June 2019.
Sunday in Jerez, Quartararo compared his forearm to “stone”, assuring that it had “no more strength”. His tumble in the rankings of the Grand Prix also cost him the head of the championship, in favor of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), for two small points.
“El Diablo” can therefore take back control in the event of a good performance at Le Mans. But in two participations in the French Grand Prix in the premier category, Fabio Quartararo has never yet reached the podium. He took 8th place in 2019 and 9th in 2020.
