After very hard months and an elbow injury that led to a white season in 2020, the former top 10 convinced by defeating Guido Pella for the 32nd finals of this first Masters on clay of the season. The Nordiste benefited from an invitation from the organizers of the Masters 1000 de Monte-Carlo.
