Mitsuoka is a very interesting brand, as eccentricity and classic lines inspired by some of the most iconic cars in history are part of its identity. And true to its custom, the Japanese firm brings us a very interesting proposal.
What’s going on?
Mitsuoka takes advantage of the SUV fever to introduce the new Buddy, an SUV with classic and tough lines that is directly inspired by the American trucks of the nineties such as the Chevrolet Suburban / Tahoe (in Mexico, Silverado).
The straight lines, square split headlights, a grille, and chrome bumpers are there. Even the clearly retro-styled wheels remind us of vintage trucks (although more modern five-spoke ones can also be chosen). Well, it even has stickers that allude to the time.
At the back, it is the least attractive part, although we find details such as vertical skulls, and again, the gate looks square and robust, at the same time that the chrome is on the fenders. This detail reminds us of the time when this element was composed of thick metal bars.
But contrary to its image, where we can take the impression that it is a large model, in reality, we are facing an efficient compact SUV, and the Buddy takes the Toyota RAV4 as its starting point.
In this way, the range of engines is composed as follows:
- 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 168 Hp
- 2.5-liter hybrid engine with 175 Hp
We can’t see the inside yet, but we should expect Mitsuoka to make his mark in the cockpit as well. D and officially, Buddy will go on sale in Japan on Nov. 26, and will be there when you know all your specifications. But it will be of little use since it is an exclusive product for his native country.
