According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), there were 19.08 million broadband users in India as of 31 January 2020. Between December 2019 to 31 January 2020, the number of broadband users in India declined by 0.27%. TRAI further stated in its report that BSNL and Reliance Jio lost subscribers in January, while Bharti Airtel and ACT Broadbrand, Hathway Cable and Datacom managed to add new customers.

BSNL remains the country’s No. 1 wired broadband service provider with 8.23 million subscribers as per TRAI report. Airtel is at number two with 2.43 million subscribers. Atria Convergence had 1.54 million subscribers as of 31 January 2020. Hathaway Cable stood at number four with 0.92 million subscribers. Reliance Jio managed to make it to the top 5 with 0.84 million subscribers.
1.60 lakh customers left BSNL
According to the TRAI report, 1.60 lakh customers left BSNL during this time period, while Reliance Jio lost 0.02 million subscribers. Jio had 0.86 million subscribers in December.
New customers associated with Airtel, Hathaway and ACT
TRAI reported in its report that Airtel added 0.01 million new customers. At the same time, ACT Broadband also managed to add 0.02 million new customers. Hathway Cable succeeded in adding 0.90 million new customers.
