Mercato: the Lyonnais Maxwel Cornet in the sights of Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin is interested in Ivorian international Maxwel Cornet, under contract with OL until June 2023. Lyon leaders claim 15 million euros for the 24-year-old left side, where the Berlin club is ready to put 8 million.

After Lucas Tousart, will Hertha Berlin afford a new OL player? Possible, given that Maxwel Cornet is targeted by the German club and discussions between the different parties have already started.

In January 2020, Lucas Tousart was sold for 25 million euros to Hertha Berlin. Loaned six months to finish the season at OL, the midfielder had flown in the summer to his new club. Regarding Maxwel Cornet, OL leaders are now claiming 15 million euros, where Hertha is willing to put 8 million euros.

Under contract until June 2023, Maxwel Cornet has been repositioned as a left-back, the former winger who can still help out in his original position. To date, Hertha Berlin has not yet formulated a firm offer for the 24-year-old Ivorian international. As a reminder, Cornet arrived at OL in January 2015, from FC Metz against 400,000 euros.

Melvin Bard already sold to the left-back position

This Tuesday, Jean-Michel Aulas did not hesitate to react on Twitter to an article evoking the timid Rhone transfer window. “No, OL do not wait to sell to recruit, assured the Lyon president. OL have no specific needs at this time and have a quality group: with a top academy, loan returns, and already two arrivals! “

At the post of left side, Melvin Bard (20) has already been sold in recent days to OGC Nice, for an amount of 3 million euros. With the departure of Rudi Garcia and the arrival on the bench of the Dutchman Peter Bosz, it is in any case a new era which is opening at OL.
