According to information from the daily Sport, Ousmane Dembélé has not yet responded favorably to an extension offer from FC Barcelona. The French striker has lost his starting position in recent weeks, and the Catalan club fear that his player will leave free at the end of his contract.
Ronald Koeman’s change of system got the better of Ousmane Dembélé’s playing time. The French striker started the last few meetings on the bench, while the Dutch technician now regularly aligns Antoine Griezmann and Lionel Messi at the forefront.
Dembélé has not yet responded for an extension
However, Ousmane Dembélé achieved until a few weeks ago a rather successful season, far from his first exercises in Catalonia disrupted by injuries. So much so that the Catalan management made an offer of extension to the player in recent weeks. But according to the daily Sport, the 2018 world champion has not yet responded, making Barça fear a departure.
For fear of seeing Ousmane Dembélé go free in the summer of 2022 or that he discusses by then to find a new point of fall, FC Barcelona could therefore be tempted to sell him this summer. The future of the player in Catalonia would in any case be more and more uncertain, and his relations with Ronald Koeman a little less cordial in recent weeks.
Ousmane Dembélé has started Barça’s last 6 games on the bench. A change of status for the player who has scored 10 goals this season while participating in 41 games in total. Barça’s logic is therefore clear: if no agreement is reached in the coming weeks, Ousmane Dembélé will not be selected this summer.
