Florian Thauvin will join the Tigers in Mexico. The 28-year-old French winger, world champion, announced it to his teammates and to OM management. He agreed to a five-year contract.
As announced Thursday by RMC Sport, Florian Thauvin has entered into an agreement with Tigres for a period of five years. At the end of his contract on June 30, the 28-year-old world champion announced his departure to Mexico to his OM teammates on Friday. He had put a few players in the confidence and some understood his desire to turn the Marseille page.
His trainer Jorge Sampaoli was also warned. “I spoke with Florian today and he told me that there was a possibility,” admitted the Argentine coach at a press conference.

Sampaoli reassured him for the end of the season
Florian Thauvin also met with President Pablo Longoria this Friday morning. By informing her of his decision to leave, he also explained his choice and the situation to her.
OM replied to their player that they were free to make the decision they considered to be the best. Jorge Sampaoli reassured him that it would not change anything for the three league games to follow. He is counting on him and will make him play.

Trained in Grenoble, Florian Thauvin had passed through Bastia before joining Olympique de Marseille in 2013. He then had an unsuccessful episode in Newcastle, in 2015, before returning to Marseille in 2016. He is counting for the time being. 86 goals and 61 assists in 279 games over all of his two appearances at the club.
