Matteo Guendouzi, French Arsenal midfielder (22), loaned to Hertha Berlin this season, is of great interest to OM.
Barely the season over, OM are already building their squad for next year. The Marseille club will have to strengthen its midfield. OM first thought of bringing in Francis Coquelin, the recent winner of the Europa League with Villarreal, with whom the Marseille club had an agreement in principle, without the two clubs having yet entered into negotiations.
But in the end, OM set their sights on international Espoirs Matteo Guendouzi. The 22-year-old French midfielder belongs to Arsenal but has been loaned to Hertha Berlin for the past six months.
Another year of contract with Arsenal
Injured to the ankle on May 6, Guendouzi will certainly not be operational before mid-September, but his profile as a young, catchy and characterful recuperator strongly appeals to the OM board, who imagines him to be a permanent fixture in Provence.
Matteo Guendouzi is under contract with Arsenal until 2022. OM will therefore have to negotiate with Arsenal and these negotiations have not yet started. The player, who has just been a dad, continues his rehabilitation and waits to see what will happen. But OM is one of the very interested clubs.
