According to information from Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday, contacts have been made between Manchester United and Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, for a possible return of the Portuguese this summer.
Unlike Real Madrid who brushed aside the idea of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return through Florentino Perez, Manchester United would not rule out the idea of bringing the Portuguese star back to Old Trafford. The one who won everything with the Red Devils between 2003 and 2009, at the start of his career, could be sold by Juventus one year from the end of his contract.
Ronaldo should lower his salary
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, first contacts have been made between Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, and Manchester United for this potential transfer. However, for the operation to be successful, the Italian daily indicates that the 36-year-old should revise his salary conditions downwards. Ole Gunnar Solskjær would be rather favorable to the arrival of Ronaldo.
The chances of Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League are said to remain low to this day, given the important contract the five-time Ballon d’Or enjoys in Turin. Nevertheless, a reflection on his future is necessarily carried, while Juventus did not succeed in his sporting bet, recruiting Ronaldo to bring back the Champions League. But the Old Lady’s club remain on three consecutive failures in Europe and should even lose their Serie A crown this season.
Not necessarily the happiest in Turin, Cristiano Ronaldo could still be sold as Juventus is experiencing financial difficulties. And the club chaired by Andrea Agnelli has been in the sights for a few days after trying to launch a European Super League. If these are only contacts established to date between the two camps, Cristiano Ronaldo would be more interested in a comeback to Manchester United, 12 years after his departure.
