According to Cadena SER, Emerson will join FC Barcelona this summer. The Catalan club shares the player’s economic rights with Betis, where he is currently on loan until the end of the season. The Brazilian will perform the preseason with Barca, who will make a decision on his future after it.
While his La Liga title hopes are definitely gone this weekend after his defeat against Celta Vigo (1-2), FC Barcelona is already looking to next season and the upcoming summer transfer window. And according to the indiscretions of the Cadena SER, the first reinforcement of the Catalan club should be Emerson (22 years old).
The Spanish radio station says the Brazilian is expected to rally Catalonia this summer. Already at the origin of his arrival in Europe in 2019, FC Barcelona has so far shared the player’s economic rights with Betis Sevilla, the club where he is currently on loan until the end of the season.
But according to the SER, the Barcelona club are closely following the progress of the right-back and appreciate his performances in La Liga, to the point of expressing the desire to keep him and see him evolve in Barcelona next year.
If Barça wants to secure the full economic rights of the player, he will then have to pay an estimated sum of 9 million euros to Betis but will try to reduce the cost of the operation by including Juan Miranda, whose return satisfied the Sevillian club.
A pre-season that promises to be decisive
For his part, Emerson already owns a house in Barcelona and feels ready to open a new chapter in his career in Catalonia. But the Brazilian will first have to convince Barcelona’s leaders to keep him.
La Cadena SER announces that FC Barcelona have already communicated to the right-back that he was expected to perform the preseason with the Blaugrana. In principle, he should first play the Olympics with Brazil before returning to Barcelona.
And this pre-season is announced as potentially decisive for the rest of his adventure in Catalonia. The Barcelona management awaits him at the turn in the first weeks and the form he will display will decide his future. SER says if he shows interesting things he will stay at Barcelona, as Pedri did last year.
