Sergio Agüero posted a message on Twitter to apologize for missing his panenka, which cost Manchester City dearly, beaten 2-1 by Chelsea in the league.
Just before half-time, he could have given the final blow by converting a penalty that would have allowed Manchester City to lead 2-0 against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. But the Argentine striker missed it in a rather pitiful way: by holding a panenka, which the Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy had no difficulty in capturing. Result: the Blues were able to equalize in the second half, before snatching the 2-1 victory in added time.

“I would like to apologize to my teammates, staff and supporters for missing the penalty,” tweeted Sergio Agüero, who had unleashed Pep Guardiola’s ire in his technical area. “It was a bad decision, and I take full responsibility for it,” concluded the 32-year-old scorer, who duplicated his message in Spanish.
After the meeting, Pep Guardiola preferred not to blow on the embers. “It’s his decision. He has decided to do this his way, there is nothing to add,” he simply said at the microphone of Sky Sports
The “Kun” therefore missed a great opportunity to score the 259th goal of his career in with Manchester City. He had revived his counter the previous weekend, opening the scoring in the 2-0 victory for Crystal Palace. But it was only his second goal of the season in the league, the fourth in all competitions. A meager record which is the consequence of his numerous injuries, of contamination with the coronavirus, and also of his declassification in the hierarchy of Mancunian scorers.
At the end of the contract on June 30, the man with 97 selections for the Argentina team does not yet know what his future will be like. According to the foreign press, FC Barcelona is very interested.
