The LFP unveiled this Thursday the general calendar of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for the 2021-2022 season. For the elite, the first day will be played on the weekend of August 7 and 8.
Return to a more or less normal program. While the 2020-2021 season began in France at the end of August due to the health crisis, the 2021-2022 fiscal year will return to fairly traditional dates.
As indicated by the LFP on Thursday, the Ligue 1 season will begin on the weekend of August 7 and 8, to end with a multiplex on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The play-offs between the 18th of the season from L1 to winner of the L2 playoffs are set for Thursday May 26 (first leg) and Sunday May 29, 2022 (return).
L2 from the end of July
Ligue 2, in fact, will make its comeback on the weekend of July 24, and the “regular” season will end on Saturday May 14, 2022. The playoffs will then take place on Tuesday May 17 and Friday May 20, 2022. Finally, the play-offs opposing the 18th in L2 to the 3rd in National 1, were set on Wednesday May 24 (outward) and Sunday May 29, 2022 (return).
The Champions Trophy will be played on August 1, for the very first time in Israel, at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv.
Remember that the beginning of summer will obviously be marked by the Euro, scheduled from June 11 to July 11, but also by the Olympic Games, whose football tournament is to take place from July 22 to August 7. Suffice to say that the players of the French championship concerned by the Olympics will not be available for the resumption of hostilities.
