The CIES Football Observatory has produced a projection of the points obtained by the 20 Ligue 1 clubs according to certain statistical criteria. The results should delight the supporters of OL who would be crowned champion of France in front of PSG.
Once is not custom, there is suspense in Ligue 1. Usually, at this time of the year (and even long before), the name of the future champion of France is already known, it is the Paris Saint Germain. This season, after 25 contested days, Lille, leader, PSG, Lyon and Monaco stand in six points. It is therefore difficult to know who will be crowned at the end of the 38th day.
The CIES Football Observatory nevertheless had fun making projections of points according to the following statistical criteria: “shots on target and from the area attempted or conceded, possession of the ball, as well as his own passes in the opposing third and those of the adversaries. ” According to these criteria set before the day which took place this weekend, it is Olympique Lyonnais who would be crowned champion of France with 82 points. The disappointment would be great for PSG fans. The Parisian club would finish only in 2nd place, one point behind Gones but with two more than Lille, 3rd.
Troyes and Clermont future promoted?
At the bottom of the table, unsurprisingly, Dijon and Nîmes would be relegated to Ligue 2 while Nantes would be barrage. In L2, Troyes, crowned champion, and Clermont would be promoted to L1.
No surprise either in the main European championships. According to the same statistical criteria, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Altético de Madrid, and Inter Milan, all leaders of their respective leagues, would be titled at the end of the season.
