Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have been nominated for Player of the Decade (Best Player of the Decade) by the International Cricket Council (ICC). On Tuesday, the ICC released a list of seven players.
Apart from Kohli and Ashwin, England’s Joe Root, New Zealand captain Ken Williamson, Australia’s Steve Smith, AB de Villiers (South Africa) and Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) have also been nominated in this list.
The list of the best players of the decade of men includes Kohli, Root, Williamson, Smith, James Anderson (England), Rangana Herath (Sri Lanka) and Yasir Shah.
Kohli, Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka), Mitchell Starc (Australia), De Villiers, Rohit Sharma (India), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (India) and Kumar Sangakkara have been named in the Men’s Decade International Team.
Kohli, Rohit, Malinga, Rashid Khan (Afghanistan), Imran Tahir (South Africa), Aaron Finch (South Africa) and Chris Gayle (West Indies) have been nominated for the T20 International Player of the Decade.
The full list of nominated players was released on the official website of the ICC on Tuesday. The winner will be decided based on the votes he or she receives.
Elise Parry (Australia), Mag Lanning (Australia), Suzy Bates (New Zealand), Stephanie Taylor (West Indies), Mithali Raj (India), Sarah Taylor (England) have been nominated for ICC Woman Player of the Decet.
Raj, Lanning, Parry, Bates, Taylor and Jhulan Goswami were nominated for the ICC Woman One Day Player of the Decade. Lanning, Parry, Sophie Divine, Drenda Dautin, Alyssa Parry and Anya Shrubsole are named for the women’s T20 International player.
