If the Pro B will end in the last matches of the regular season, the Jeep Elite will be entitled to a final phase with a Final 4 played in Rouen from June 24 to 26. The quarter-finals will be scheduled a few days earlier.
The format of the final phase – confirmed a few days ago despite the challenge of the captains – is now known. The Jeep Elite season will end well with a tournament between the top eight of the regular season, announced Tuesday Alain Béral, president of the National Basketball League. But these decisive matches will be spread over a period of one week, and not over a narrower period, as was initially envisaged.
The quarter-finals will take place on June 20 and 21, in the grounds of the top-ranked clubs in the top 4 of the regular season. The semi-finals and the final will be played in a Final 4 in Rouen, on June 24 and 26.
Less than a month before these meetings, Monaco is at the top of the ranking, ahead of Dijon, ASVEL and Strasbourg. Bourg-en-Bresse, Boulogne-Levallois, Le Mans and Limoges complete the top 8.
“An end of year party with the public”
“It is in the DNA of world basketball”, underlined Alain Béral, recalling in passing that the decision to organize a final phase of this type had been recorded on February 22. “There will be an end of year party with the public. This party will designate the champion of France,” he added.
The question of the absence of several players selected for selection was also raised. Answer: these players will still have to be made available to the national teams. As for the public, they expect a minimum of 3,000 people for the semi-finals and finals.
As for Pro B, the last day of the regular season will mark the end of the season. The champion and his runner-up will reach the elite. At the moment, Fos-sur-Mer and Saint-Quentin are in the lead.
