According to Gazzetta dello Sport, optimism would be appropriate for the presence of Marco Verratti with Italy for the Euro despite his right knee injury which will take him away from the field for a month.
Marco Verratti will not play again this season with PSG. The Parisian club confirmed Tuesday that the Italian medium suffers from a “lesion of the medial collateral of the right knee”. An injury contracted in training and which should keep him away from the field for the next 4 weeks.
Optimistic Verratti and Mancini
An absence that necessarily calls into question his participation for the Euro, which must be disputed between June 11 and July 11. But according to Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday, the player and coach Roberto Mancini are rather optimistic that the main interested party can play the Euro.
Marco Verratti will now rest for a week, before resuming with the first training exercises. As a reminder, Italy will face Turkey for its first Euro match on June 11, opening the competition organized in 11 different countries.
One thing is certain: Marco Verrati will miss Italy’s two friendlies in preparation for the Euro. Squadra Azzura will face San Marino and the Czech Republic in friendly matches, before ending up in a squad with Turkey, Switzerland and Wales. Stefano Sensi and Manuel Locatelli could replace Verratti in the absence of the Parisian player against Turkey. But the PSG player should be in Roberto Mancini’s group of 26 for the Euro.
