The IPL-13 has been finalized and Mumbai Indians have achieved the distinction of becoming champions for the fifth time. In the finals played at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday, Mumbai won their fifth IPL title by defeating Delhi Capitals, who played for the first time, by five wickets. While batting first, Delhi scored 156 at the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Mumbai achieved this target by losing five wickets in 18.4 overs. For Mumbai, Rohit Sharma played an important role in the team’s victory of 68 runs off 51 balls.
There have been 12 more seasons before this season, of which Mumbai has won four times, Chennai Super Kings three times, Kolkata Knight Riders have won two titles. Apart from this, Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the title once each. In the first edition of the IPL, in 2008 Rajasthan Royals won the title by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final. Shane Watson became the man of the series, playing for Rajasthan Royals.

In 2009, Deccan Chargers Hyderabad won the title by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. Adam Gilchrist became Man of the Series that season. In 2010, Chennai Super Kings managed to win the IPL title for the first time and beat Mumbai Indians in the final. In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar was elected Man of the Series.
Chennai were successful in saving their title in 2011 and defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. Chris Gayle was the Man of the Series in 2011. At the same time, in the 2012 IPL final, Kolkata Knight Riders won the title for the first time by defeating Chennai Super Kings. Kolkata’s Sunil Naren became the man of the series.

In 2013, Mumbai Indians became champions for the first time and defeated Chennai Super Kings in the finals. During that time Shane Watson became the Man of the Series. At the same time, in 2016 Sunrisers Hyderabad was successful in becoming champions when they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore, captained by Virat Kohli in the final. In 2017, Mumbai Indians became champions for the third time. Mumbai had defeated Rising Pune Supergiant in the final. The Chennai Super Kings team became champions for the third time in the 2018 IPL.
