This incident is from the first season of IPL. Kings XI Punjab defeated Mumbai Indians by 66 runs. During this, there was some conversation between Harbhajan Singh and S. Sreesanth, after which Harbhajan gave Sreesanth a slap of emphasis. Then the focus shifted from the game to the ‘slap scandal’. The rift between Harbhajan and Sreesanth started long back. The BCCI immediately took action on the matter and banned Harbhajan Singh for 11 matches.
After slapping Sreesanth wept bitterly in the field itself. The rest of the players came and defended the beach. Later, Harbhajan went to the dressing room and apologized to Sreesanth for his behavior.
This is a very embarrassing incident in the history of IPL. This is the first and last time in the history that Harbhajan Singh was banned for the entire season after the act that a player slapped another player. S Sreesanth while clarifying this after a few years had said that he had slapped me in a funny tone.
Sreesanth said that the commissioner appointed by the BCCI had cried in front of Sudheendra Nanavati and told not to punish Harbhajan Singh. I consider him my elder brother. Talking to a cricket website said that everything was settled because of Sachin Paji. He said that you both play from the same team. After Sachin said this much, Sreesanth said that he is fine, I will go and meet him. Later we met and on the same night we also had lunch together.
