Pietersen had earlier congratulated the Indian team on winning the Test series in Australia. The Indian team, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy after beating Australia 2–1 in their four-match Test series at home.
Pietersen had tweeted in English, asking India to celebrate the victory and also warned him that he would be facing England in the next few weeks.
Peterson wrote, “India, celebrate this historic victory as it has been achieved against all odds, but the real team is coming after a few weeks which you will have to defeat. Be cautious. Be very careful in two weeks. Beware of celebrating more. “
