According to Bloomberg, Apple would seriously consider beefing up its connected home offer. We thought the Californian brand defeated after the abandonment of the HomePod, it would actually want to merge its smart speaker with its Apple TV box, in order to create an all-in-one solution for televisions. Journalist Mark Gurman indicates however that this is only a project and that the brand could abandon it or take time to present it.
Apple TV + HomePod + FaceTime
After all, such a merger would make sense. In 2020, Apple had merged its teams dedicated to television and speakers, which made sense from a software point of view (HomePods now run under a version derived from tvOS, the operating system of Apple TV ). Launching an Apple TV capable of responding to voice and, as an added bonus, capable of delivering sound superior to that of a TV seems a logical step. Today, it is already possible to pair a HomePod with an Apple TV to replicate a 3D sound environment.
Another more surprising information, Apple would like to integrate a camera in its future Apple TV to allow its users to make video calls on their televisions. Always according to Bloomberg, the brand would also develop a screen for the connected home, like Google Nest Hub. It could be some sort of iPad on a motorized stand, with a built-in HomePod.
