Google removed hundreds of suspicious apps from its Play Store that used to spy people and make them their victims. Such apps are called Creepware. Many millions of times downloaded these apps were operated by hackers. According to a report, Google has banned 813 such apps.
What are Creepware Apps
Creepyware apps are those used by hackers to spy on, threaten or defraud a person. Through them, hackers track your online activity and steal your password. After this, we misuse this information.
This is how these apps work
As soon as someone downloads such an app, the hackers get access to their phone files, messages and cameras etc. According to the cyber security form Norton, “through creepware, hackers gain control of your computer or mobile device only by sitting away.” They are able to see and hear you through the camera and microphone of your device.
Researchers had detected 1095 such apps, which had been downloaded more than 1 million times between 2017 and 2019. By clicking on this link, you can see the list of all those apps.
