Emmanuel Macron was visiting Clairefontaine on Thursday, to greet and encourage the Blues before the start of the Euro. On his arrival, he greeted all the players one by one and had special words for Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema.
Five days before their first Euro match against Germany (Tuesday, 9 p.m.), the Blues received a visit from Emmanuel Macron at Clairefontaine. Arrived a little before 1 p.m., the Head of State arrived with Brigitte Macron, Noël Le Graët and Gianni Infantino. The President greeted the players one by one.
“Thanks for the vaccine”
He notably said “thank you for the vaccine” to Kylian Mbappé. Two weeks earlier, the PSG striker had posted a photo of him being vaccinated against Covid-19 on Instagram, to encourage vaccination. On the tone of the joke, he also asked “forgiveness for the transfer” to the Parisian. An allusion to the joke with the YouTubers McFly and Carlito a few days ago at the Elysée.
Macron reassured by Benzema
Emmanuel Macron has also heard from Karim Benzema. The Madrilenian came out prematurely on Tuesday against Bulgaria (41st), hit in the thigh. The staff of the France team has since given reassuring news, explaining that it was a crutch and that the ultrasound had not revealed anything alarming. “How are you Karim? It makes me happy.” This is how Emmanuel Macron greeted the former Lyonnais. He then checked in on his crutch. “Are you okay? Isn’t that a serious injury?” Reassured by the Real striker, he said: “Is it true? Nothing bad? Top!”
Emmanuel Macron also congratulated N’Golo Kanté for the Champions League, won with Chelsea. “Go to the end, eh!”, Also launched the head of state, greeting striker Antoine Griezmann, who replied: “we will try, we represent France”.
