Father dies: Siraj to remain on ‘national duty’, rejects proposal to return home

Siraj is currently on a tour of Australia with the Indian team and this young bowler has decided to stay with the team. The BCCI issued a statement on Saturday and informed about this. The BCCI said that the board had discussed with them and proposed to return home, but Siraj rejected the proposal and decided to stay in Australia. The BCCI said in a statement, ‘Indian team paceman Mohammad Siraj lost his father to Shakkar. The BCCI spoke with Siraj and offered him to go home with his family in times of grief. According to the statement, ‘the fast bowler has decided to stay with the team. The BCCI understands their grief and will support them in this difficult period. The BCCI has also asked the media to respect Siraj’s privacy in this difficult time. BCCI chief and former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly has expressed condolences on Siraj’s father’s death. Siraj plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. The club shared their grief with Siraj via Twitter. Siraj is included in the Indian Test team and is currently in the Sydney Quarantine Hub. Due to Kovid related restrictions, he will not be able to return to India for his father’s funeral.
