During the first free practice session of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna, Nikita Mazepin again made a name for himself by going off the track twice. This is starting to do a lot for the young Russian …
Nikita’s nickname “Mazespin” (“spin” means spinning in English) is starting to stick more and more to the skin of the Haas rookie. Author of numerous runs since the start of the season, especially during the Bahrain Grand Prix, in qualifying and then from the second corner in the race, the young Russian has done it again.
It didn’t take five minutes of free practice for Mazepin to stand out again with another spin on his first lap. But that’s not all, the fifth in the last Formula 2 championship ended his session of the day with another visit to the gravel. Who came not only to end his day, while depriving the other drivers of starting test, the fault of a red flag.
18th of the first session of the weekend
Yet Nikita Mazepin finished ahead of his teammate Mick Schumacher at the end of this first free practice, for the first time this season. The German indeed finished in penultimate position, a rank below the sulphurous Russian pilot. Bottas dominated this session, ahead of Hamilton and Verstappen.
The rest of this Grand Prix this Saturday is to be followed from 2:30 p.m. with the second free practice session, while the last will take place this Saturday morning, a few hours before qualifying, postponed due to the funeral of Prince Phillip. The start of the race will be given on Sunday at 3 p.m., hopefully with a Mazepin which will finally see the checkered flag.
