Formula 1 has just added a new race to its 2022 calendar: the Miami Grand Prix, which will be contested on the Hard Rock Stadium circuit.
A few hours before the start of the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna, this Sunday, Formula 1 has announced a new meeting for the 2022 season. The championship will take place next year for a weekend in Miami, on the Hard Rock Stadium circuit. The exact date of this new race will be revealed later.
Hard Rock Stadium is home to the Miami Dolphins, the city’s American football club. The circuit will be 5.41km long, with 19 turns, three potential DRS zones and a peak of 320 km / h. It will be the first time that the paddock will set down its suitcases in Miami. Another race across the Atlantic is already on the F1 calendar: the United States Grand Prix in Austin, which will take place this year on October 24.
“The United States is a central market for us and we are convinced that our growth in this country will be increased by this second race”, detailed Stefano Domenicali, the president of Formula 1. “We will work closely with the team of the Hard Rock Stadium and the FIA to ensure that the circuit offers a sensational race while having a positive impact on the local population. “
