Around 20,000 Scotland supporters sang, drank beers and set a crazy atmosphere in the streets of London on Friday during their selection against England at the Euro. The party has sometimes turned to anything, to the delight of Internet users.
Against England, Scotland has not won since 1999. But in the streets of London, the “Tartan Army” has folded the match. For the hot derby between the two nations scheduled for Friday evening (9:00 p.m.) as part of the second day of Group D at the Euro, several thousand Scottish supporters have made a happy mess in the British capital.
They are said to be more than 20,000 to have challenged the mayor of London Sadiq Khan and the Scottish football federation, who had asked fans without tickets to stay at home. Failing to be able to access the legendary Wembley Stadium, these fans braved the rain to sing and drink liters of beer in Hyde Park and Leicester Square, in particular.
Unsurprisingly, many have not been satisfied with this. On social networks, a multitude of images and videos have shown individuals to demonstrate the most total exuberance. A small tour in the Twitterosphere thus allowed to see, jumble: shirtless slides on the wet sidewalks of London, a bath of alcohol in a fountain, police sprayed with drink, beer packs used as hats …
Some supporters have gone further by living the pre-match in the simplest device. One of them even allowed himself, under the incredulous gaze of a passenger, to do the worm dance in the metro. A scene that certainly enters the hall of fame of the exploits of British supporters.
